Turning 25 is an unpleasant turning point in a young adults life. The days of drinking an entire case of beer and waking up refreshed the next morning are over. I once wouldn’t think twice about a 2am pizza binge where as now every bite of junk food I eat makes it harder and harder to fit into my once comfortable jeans. The other day I found a varicose vein on my thigh which led to a softball sized patch of cellulite that I swear wasn’t there two days ago! I think the worst of it all however is that I now consider it a compliment when I get ID’d at the bar!
In an attempt to slow down this sudden aging process I have decided to jump on the healthy bandwagon. Greg and I spent Sunday afternoon playing tennis and despite being the absolute worst team on the court we felt accomplished, that is until we woke up the next day. With pain shooting through my entire body I slowly forced myself out of bed and made my way to the kitchen. Rather than making my usual breakfast of coffee I made this awesome smoothie. I’m not going to claim that it made my aching muscles feel better but it did energize me enough to get my butt out of the house and go for a quick morning jog!
So my new commitment to myself is to exercise, eat a little healthier, and to make a conscious effort to wear sunscreen. Wish me luck!

1/3 cup fresh or frozen pineapple chunks
1 medium banana, sliced
2 Tbsp. shredded unsweetened dried coconut

I love starting off my day with smoothies…your aging comments made me laugh…so funny :-)
When you put your mind to something it is very doable! Good luck, and try not to be discouraged.
I turned 25 a few months ago, and I feel like my bad habits are suddenly out to get me. Like those late night drunk snacks? I feel fat for two days afterward. And taking shots? Based on how I feel the next morning, I’m too old for them. Ug!
Anyway, I’m om a smoothie kick and yours looks delicious. I’m going to add frozen pineapple to my shopping list. I bet it would be amazing with strawberries, too!
Glad to hear I’m not alone! 25 is such an evil age.
Strawberries would be good! Or even Mango! The possibilities are endless with smoothies.
Your comments on aging are cracking me up!Just wait until you hit your 30’s!
Your smoothie looks really yummy. I’m going to feature it Wednesday in my These Chicks Cooked spotlight. Thanks for sharing it!
Thanks Katie!!
