Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Well not everyone I guess, specifically Canadians. I have been sick as a dog the past few days and I completely forgot it was Canadian Thanksgiving until this morning. Being the lovely fiancé he is, Greg took to the kitchen and has been busy preparing me a feast fit for any pilgrim.
I’m not a huge fan of turkey so our menu for the night is a roasted chicken with root vegetables, mashed potatoes, stuffing and a lovely little pecan pie we picked up from Just Pie at the Dallas Farmers Market this weekend. If you’ve never tried one of their pies you are missing out! Beside the pecan pie, some of my favourites are their blue ribbon buttermilk pie and traditional pumpkin pie (which they were sold out of this afternoon, gotta get there early!).
The best part about being a Canadian expat in America is celebrating two Thanksgivings! So the next week I’ll be posting some of my favourite dishes from tonight’s dinner which I’ll be serving up again in a little over a month. I hope everyone has a great day filled with family, friends and great food.
