Thanks for stopping by! My name is Kris and I’m a food loving Canadian Ex-pat living the dream in Dallas, Texas. After one too many cold winters I went the way of the birds and settled down south. My travels have opened my eyes to a plethora of interesting cultures and cuisine’s and I challenge myself to explore new food combinations as often as possible.
I’ve always enjoyed creating new things, whether its painting, ceramics, photography, or cooking. Creating something new gives me so much joy! It’s no wonder that my university career ended with a BFA in photography. I consider cooking the unrecognized fine art. It takes creativity and passion to create a delectable meal of your own. Be proud of what you create in the kitchen!
I strive to use local and in season ingredients when I cook. I learnt this from my mother, who grew up on a self sustaining farm in eastern Ontario. She has taught me so much about the importance of good food. When I was young, my mum involved me in much of the cooking; always having a step stool and apron ready for me. On weekends, when we were not visiting my grandpa’s farm, we would often explore local farmers markets and orchards. So many of my fondest childhood memories surround food. I guess it’s no wonder that my adult life is so consumed by cooking.
When I’m not in the kitchen, you’ll find me scouring farmers markets, camping in Texas hill country, or swimming in water deemed too frigid for Americans. When I’m not photographing food, I’m often working on photographic documentaries. To view my professional work, please visit Christine Mullen Photography.
This blog chronicles my culinary adventures, life stories and photos along the way. Enjoy the ride!
